save lent in an empty milk cont. cut a hole in front and hang from a tree in the winter for the birds

I could never figure out what to do with the lent from the dryer but since I recycle everything else I finally figured out a way to recycle and put it to good use. I save the lent in an empty bag - I use one from a sheet set that has a zipper - then when the weather starts to cool I save at least one sometimes several one gallon plastic milk jugs, wash and dry them and then cut an opening about 2 inches by 2 inches in one side. Slide a piece of rope or jute through the handle and stuff with the lent. Hang from a branch in your tree and your feathered friends will have the warmest nests in your neighborhood and you will have not only recycled the lent but also a plastic milk jug!! This makes a great project for kids because they also like to decorate the outside of the jug with markers etc. Once you have your nest liners hung be sure to keep on saving the lent becuase you will be amazed at how fast the containers empty out and about every two weeks I restuff the containers through the whole winter!!
